I feel that yes I do carry an 'invisible weightless knapsack' as described by McIntosh. She starts off by saying that white people do not see their privileges. I feel this to be true as well. Coming from a western country and being white, I do not realise how privileged I am. Although I think if I thought about all the advantages that McIntosh listed within the 46, then everything I did would take a lot longer. To live is to make certain assumptions. The need to stereotype is definite, at least until you can arm yourself with enough information to not need the stereotype.
